Libraries
Bruce has tremendous passion for the Public Library. He has designed five in six years and gained recognition through regional and national programs of the library industry for his work and insights. The Durango Public Library was selected as one of 10 US Landmark Libraries by the Library Journal.
He believes the library plays a vital role in our increasingly fractured society by providing unique services to build the individual and build the community. The libraries he has planned and designed cover a broad spectrum from small to urban communities, from neighborhood branch to flagship main library and with library professionals who are undertaking their first to those adding another “jewel” to their system.
Bruce continues to explore ways the library can truly be the heart of the community…offering portals to knowledge for everyone, increasing literacy and life skills for all ages and abilities, facilitating forums and celebration, and partnering to provide an array of vital public services.
Bruce Flynn played a significant role in leading the following projects while at Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture. He was most often partner-in-charge, led programming and public process and was typically design partner.
