Recreation & Wellness
Bruce was a young partner working with founder Ron Rinker as his former firm developed a regional reputation in design of community recreation centers. He led the firm as managing partner during the period that reputation grew to a national presence in the field.
He believes that emerging trends point to an increasingly vital role for public recreation providers in the long term wellness of our communities. He is skilled at facilitating a broad and inclusive stakeholder process to find the special mix of amenities that uniquely fits his client’s needs.
Bruce is a strong proponent of these facilities being a true part of community fabric; integrating with neighborhoods, parks & open space and other activity centers. Thoughtful connections to transit, natural and cultural assets can increase the impact to wellness in the lives of all.
Finally, to thrive in today’s reality of competing demands for public resources, these places need to excel in being Family friendly, Socially smart and Fiscally strong
Bruce Flynn played a significant role in leading the following projects while at Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture. He was most often partner-in-charge or co-partner, led programming and public process and often design partner.
